Informatics for translational medicine -111 Academic Year

This course is " Informatics for translational medicine ".

In 2004, the president of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences proposed the concept of "translational medicine," hoping to transform the results of genomic research into clinical applications through the interaction between basic and clinical medicine. A few years later, with the development of next generation sequencing (NGS) technology, a large amount of high throughput analysis data and big data has been accumulated. By using massive amounts of data for data mining, "precision medicine" is also moving towards personalized medicine and preventive medicine.

In the process of converting the results of genomic research into clinical applications, it is necessary to find the correlation between clinical and high-throughput data. This involves ethical, legal and social issues (ELSI) such as protecting personal privacy.

This course will use applied examples to explain to students how to interpret the pathogenic mechanism at the molecular level, then associate the pathogenic mechanism with clinical application, and make it a consensus for treatment through experiments.
